Our mid-day and evening computer classes have been a tremendous hit with the community, and so we are diving right back in with more opportunities to explore the ever-changing technological world.

We begin a new three-week, Computer Graphics, course next Monday. The curriculum has been designed for those who have a basic mastery of PC computing. It is also the next step for those who recently completed the initial series of introductory classes.

More than a survey class, these nine hours of instruction will provide for a more thorough exploration of programs and applications. Engage in deeper understanding and even more creative expression with and through technology!

In this class you will develop a greater mastery of Microsoft Word, explore the world of digital photography, and learn to manipulate images using Adobe Photoshop. Design flyers, letterhead, business cards or anything else you may need.

Individual attention to each student, responsiveness to the degree of expertise they bring to the class and the support of each participant’s intended goals are the hallmarks of the computer classes offered at SCC.

SCC Computer Classes

David Green teaches computer classes, especially designed
for seniors, at the Sedona Community Center.

Computer Graphics is offered on Mondays for the next three weeks beginning Oct. 6th. The class runs from 2 until 5 pm.

This series of computer classes is $45 for SCC members and $60 for non-members. Space is limited and already filling. If you are interested, you must register and pay in advance. Come join the fun.

And speaking of fun…Comedy Improv has come to the Sedona Community Center!

Anne Lewis trained in the art of Improvisation in California and is bringing years of experience and a heart full of passion to her new weekly class.

Although the class premiered this week, there is still room for more participants. The class meets on Thursdays from 1:30 until 3:30. Members of the Center pay a mere $3 per class meeting, non-members pay $5.

Improvisation acting allows class members to bypass our mind, going directly to creativity where there is vast humor and aspects of personality and character that may not otherwise be discovered.

No experience in acting or theatre is required. Everyone begins at the beginning. If you have room for a little more fun and a lot more laughter in your life, give yourself the gift of enrolling in this unique, one-of-a-kind class.

Bring an open mind, a willing spirit, and your impish nature. Suspend judgment and criticism, and open yourself to the discovery of your playful, joy-filled heart. And wear comfortable clothes while you’re at it.

SCC’s social services include home-delivered Meals on Wheels delivered by a devoted fleet of volunteer drivers. In addition to food, these folks deliver compassion and respect.

Our Community Lunch is served at the center Monday through Friday at noon. This program is made possible by our generous kitchen staff, our civic-minded Restaurant Partners and is served by volunteers.

Our Transportation program gives senior adults “door-to-door” service to the store, bank and doctor Monday through Friday between 9 and 2. Our professional drivers are the most kind and caring in the business.

Our Telecare program provides daily telephone calls to individuals in need of a wellness check seven days a week. This vital service is available free-of-charge to all Sedona-area residents and is provided by concerned volunteers.

For more information, to volunteer or to make reservations for our classes, events or social services, call 282-2834. We are located at the corner of Harmony Drive and Melody Lane in West Sedona.
